The Benton-Carroll-Salem Food Pantry, located at St. Paul UCC, serves people from throughout the BCS school district whose income meets federal guidelines to qualify to receive food. Hours of operation are Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30am to 11:30am. Evening hours are available the first and third Thursday of each month from 5:30 -7:00 pm. Clients may use the food pantry once a month.
It is a “shopping pantry,” meaning clients get to “shop” for preferred foods in the pantry. The pantry is staffed by a group of ecumenical volunteers who pick up, organize, order, stock, and assist clients in choosing food items. Over 2300 hours of volunteer service were completed last year!
The food pantry is made possible due to the generosity of donations from area churches, businesses, organizations, school, and individuals in the BCS school district. St. Paul UCC also has a garden specifically for producing fresh vegetables for the food pantry.
